A well-known Australian industrial manufacturer experienced an extended period of organisational change that culminated in the appointment of a new CEO and the formation of a new executive leadership team. While the incoming team brought strong individual capability across related and diverse sectors, leaders were stepping into their roles amid shifting expectations, evolving strategy and heightened commercial pressure.
The organisation recognised the need to stabilise the executive team quickly, strengthen alignment across functions and support leaders to operate effectively as a collective, not just as individual contributors. Of key importance was the need for the team to present a cohesive, confident, decisive front to the rest of the business. Progressional was engaged to deliver executive coaching that would support performance, development and connection, while remaining closely aligned to the organisation’s strategic priorities.
Progressional designed and delivered individualised executive coaching programs for each member of the executive leadership team.
Our work included:
- Discovery conversations with each executive and key sponsoring stakeholders to understand context, expectations and success measures
- Alignment of coaching objectives to performance reviews, leadership expectations and strategic priorities
- Strength profiling to explore realised and unrealised strengths and identify opportunities for harnessing and directing energy
- One-to-one executive coaching programs ranging from six to twelve months, tailored to the needs of each leader
- Coaching focus areas that varied by individual, including leadership effectiveness, performance, influence, decision-making and deeper developmental work
- Ongoing communication with sponsoring stakeholders, sharing themes and engagement insights while maintaining strict confidentiality.
The programs were designed to support both individual leadership growth and stronger collective performance across the executive team.
The senior executive coaching framework supported greater stability and confidence within the executive leadership team and strengthened cross-functional alignment. Through the use of pre and post surveys, leaders reported increased self-awareness, clearer leadership impact and stronger connection with peers, enabling the organisation to progress its strategic agenda with greater focus and cohesion.
